Ideas are worthless

Awful idea = -1
Weak idea = 1
So-so idea = 5
Good idea = 10
Great idea = 15
Brilliant idea = 20

No execution = $1
Weak execution = $1000
So-so execution = $10,000
Good execution = $100,000
Great execution = $1,000,000
Brilliant execution = $10,000,000

To make a business, you need to multiply the two.

I couldn’t agree more with you! I actually posted a full article about this last month called “Ideas are a Dime a Dozen”.

The reality is that most people think the idea is the larger side of the equation, when in reality it’s the much much much smaller side.

That is an excellent quote, however it should be attributed to it’s original source: Derek Sivers, president and programmer, CD Baby and HostBaby.

Steph: What a success you’re having with LandlordMax! Congratulations! I just added you in my Bloglines account.

Jim: You’re right. I should have done that. Thanks.

Hi Greg,

Thanks! It’s been a great and exciting adventure running LandlordMax so far!

And thank you for adding me to your Bloglines account, it’s always great to hear when people find FollowSteph.com useful.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I also included your article in my latest “Weekly 7″ on FollowSteph.com (http://www.followsteph.com/2006/11/03/weekly-7-18/). I really liked how succinctly the math illustrates the point!

Hi Steph,

Aspring entrepreneurs like me will surely learn a lot from someone who’ve been there (like you) than from someone who have made a case study in their MBA class.

I like your weekly roundup. Really got me thinking about “10 Reasons You Should Never Get a Job”. I was raised, and most people around me were, with the mindset that one should study hard and get a nice job.
